Idexx Laboratories launches lithium heparin whole blood separator
Idexx Laboratories has launched a new lithium heparin whole blood separator for use with the Catalyst Dx chemistry analyser, making it easier for animal health experts to provide diagnoses.
The new augmentation for the Catalyst Dx instrument allows blood analysis to be conducted more quickly than ever by removing the need for pipetting, external centrifugation and other complex steps.
Instead, blood can simply be placed directly into the separator and then into the Catalyst Dx unit, meaning that test results can be shared with clients during their visit, rather than over the phone in a follow-up call.
Tina Hunt, senior marketing manager for chemistry at Idexx Laboratories, said the new product has been developed in response to feedback from professionals, calling for simplified workflows.
She added: "Response has been very positive – technicians are telling us that saving a few steps makes a big difference."
Last month, the company released the Idexx SNAP BVD Test, a new testing device for bovine viral diarrhoea virus, in the UK market.
