Covidien data shows benefits of hernia and abdominal repair devices
Covidien has presented clinical study data at the international congress of the European Hernia Society, showcasing the benefits of its hernia and abdominal wall repair products.
Results from three multicentre trials were showcased at the medical conference, showing the advantages its Parietex ProGrip mesh and AbsorbaTack absorbable fixation device offer compared to their respective standards of care.
In addition, further data was presented on the company's Permacol Biologic Implant range, a porcine dermal collagen implant that removes unwanted cells during the wound healing process.
A total of 18 podium presentations were given at the event, highlighting the key role Covidien products play in reducing postoperative pain and complications.
Scott Herring, president for surgical devices in the EMEA region at the company, said: "The clinical presentations demonstrated Covidien's commitment to deliver innovative products that offer proven benefits and value to surgeons, patients and payors."
This comes after the firm also attended the American College of Surgeons' annual clinical congress earlier this month, demonstrating products such as the SILS hand instrument range and the iDrive right angle linear cutter.
