Procter and Gamble receives BDHF backing for Oral-B toothbrush

13th October 2010

Procter and Gamble has been granted official approval from the British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF) for one of the products in its Oral-B toothbrush range.

The company's oscillating-rotating Oral-B power toothbrush has become the only adult power brush to receive accreditation from the BDHF's scientific panel, reports Dentistry.co.uk.

This approval was awarded to the brush following a review of the manufacturer's performance claims by a panel of independent international experts.

It was found that Procter and Gamble's statements about the brush's plaque reduction capabilities were clinically sound and "100 per cent accurate", according to BDHF chief executive Dr Nigel Carter.

He added: "With various studies suggesting causal links between oral hygiene and cardiovascular disease, diabetes and pre-term births, brushing our teeth in the correct way has become essential."

The Oral-B brand is conducting a charity initiative between October and November 2010, in which a donation is provided to Dentaid for every sale of a Cross Action Complete or a Complete Clean manual toothbrush.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800114201-ADNFCR
