B Braun launches new glucose control system
B Braun has introduced a new system which makes it easier for glucose levels to be controlled among critically ill patients.
The medical technology firm has unveiled its new automatic Space GlucoseControl unit at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine meeting in Barcelona, which incorporates a new intelligent insulin dosage algorithm.
It is designed to provide "safe, reproducible and automated blood glucose control" within specified target ranges for intensive care patients who are at risk from conditions such as hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia.
This technology has been tested successfully in a number of clinical trials and provides professionals with ease-of-use benefits.
It also helps to address the issues associated with time-consuming manual glucose control processes, which are dependent on educated guesswork.
Last month, B Braun announced it will be allying with NeoMed to combine the functionality of the Perfusor Space Syringe Pump with its collaborative partner's Enteral Safety System.
