Simplyhealth chief executive wins lifetime achievement honour

Simplyhealth's chief executive Des Benjamin has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award at this year's Health Insurance Awards.

Mr Benjamin was praised by judges for endowing Simplyhealth with a "passionate vision" for the sector, as well as for offering products and services that are accessible to a wide array of people.

The executive was responsible for bringing together eight mutual health providers to form Simplyhealth, with the company having marked the first anniversary of its creation last month.

Mr Benjamin described the accolade as a testament to the efforts of Simplyhealth staff, as well as praising the firm's work in helping to "challenge perceptions" of the health insurance business.

He added: "I am immensely proud of our organisation and our people and I am passionate about our vision of inspiring people towards better health."

This comes after Simplyhealth won the best health cash plan provider award at the Investment Life and Pensions Moneyfacts Awards last month.
