Bayer Animal Health to acquire Bomac Group

3rd November 2010

Bayer Animal Health has bolstered its global business via the acquisition of Bomac Group, a veterinary medicine company based in New Zealand.

The transaction, financial details of which were not disclosed, will allow Bayer Animal Health to expand its product range with the addition of 290 new offerings, focusing on mastitis treatments for dairy cattle and parasiticides for sheep.

These two fields also represent Bomac's primary areas of research and development expertise, which will help Bayer Animal Health to augment its own operations.

Both companies expressed confidence that their complementary portfolios will bring about "major synergies" when they are combined, adding that the deal will bring benefits to both organisations.

Connel McLaren, managing director of Bomac, said: "We chose Bayer as the perfect partner to help us take our innovation beyond Asia-Pacific."

According to the Bayer group's most recent financial report, Bayer Animal Health experienced a strong performance in the third quarter of 2010, thanks to the success of its Advantage line of flea, tick and worm control products.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800215263-ADNFCR
