Radiometer wins design award for ABL90 Flex
Radiometer has won an award honouring the design qualities of its innovative blood gas analyser device, the ABL90 Flex.
The science company has been presented with the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Good Design Award for 2010, beating competition from more than 3,000 other entrants.
It represents a rare victory for a medical device at the prestigious awards, which are typically presented to consumer electronics innovations such as cars or mobile phones.
Sadakatsu Maru, president of Radiometer in Japan, said: "It is a great accomplishment for us to receive the Good Design Award and it proves the fact that Scandinavian products are gaining popularity these years because of their refined design."
The ABL90 Flex went on sale in the UK in April 2010 and is designed to provide users with blood gas analysis results in as little as 35 seconds.
This allows testing to be carried out more efficiently and helps medical professionals to spend more time on patient care.
