Bayer Animal Health acquires chewable product technology

17th November 2010

Bayer Animal Health has agreed a deal to acquire innovative new chewable application technology from specialist healthcare company Piedmont Pharmaceuticals.

The agreement, financial details of which were not disclosed, provides Bayer Animal Health with new formulation technology that is close to market approval and has been shown to be well-tolerated among both cats and dogs.

A range of products utilising this innovation are expected to launch within a few years and will allow a variety of different active ingredients to be easily administered to pets.

Dr Jean-Luc Lowinski, head of Bayer Animal Health, said: "This technology will enable us to provide a whole new range of products to improve companion animal health and wellbeing."

In addition, the deal with Piedmont will give Bayer Animal Health access to two unspecified products in late-stage clinical development.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Bayer Animal Health is to acquire Bomac Group, a New Zealand-based veterinary medicine company specialising in mastitis treatments and parasiticides for livestock.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800241258-ADNFCR
