Elsevier congratulates award-winning journal editor

29th November 2010

Elsevier, the world's leading publisher of science and health information, has congratulated one of its editors after he was named as the recipient of a prestigious award.

Dr Marvin Bauer, whose publication Remote Sensing of the Environment is available via the service, has been handed the 2010 William T Pecora Award as a result of his contributions to remote sensing education, science and applications.

In particular, Dr Bauer was lauded thanks to his work in remote sensing for agriculture and forestry, including the Large Area Crop Inventory Experiment carried out by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden commented: "Dr Bauer has directly improved the credibility of remote sensing science through his commitment to the timely publication of the highest quality papers."

Indeed, he has been editor-in-chief of Remote Sensing of the Environment for 30 years and is currently working on how public resistance influences techno-scientific projects.

Elsevier also recently announced the release of a new mobile application to assist nursing students in their training as part of its aim to serve more than 30 million scientists, students and health and information professionals worldwide.
