Microgen Bioproducts reveals new bacteriology system

6th December 2010

Microgen Bioproducts has released details of a new system for the incubation and storage of bacteriological cultures.

Showcased at the Medica 2010 trade fair in Dusseldorf last month, the Microgen Atmosphere System (MAS) enables the creation of defined atmospheres in special application bags, which can then be incubated or stored under normal aerobic conditions.

Microgen said the product will allow users to make savings on both gas consumption and incubator space, as it does not require anaerobic jars and dedicated CO2 incubators.

The MAS takes up less room than dedicated anaerobic cabinets and only requires sufficient gas to fill the bag. It can also improve isolation rates and colony size, according to the firm.

Medica, which took place between November 17th and 20th this year, is the world's largest medical industry event.

The trade fair was described as an "impressive shop window of the health industry" by German chancellor Angela Merkel, who made a speech on the opening day.

More than 4,400 exhibitors from over 60 nations were represented in Dusseldorf this year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800274667-ADNFCR
