Novartis Animal Health launches new flukicide for cattle and sheep
Novartis Animal Health has launched a versatile new flukicide product that can be used to treat fluke among both cattle and sheep.
The new Fasinex 100 offering is based on the veterinary medicine firm's previous Fasinex 5 Percent and Fasinex 10 Percent products, which treated each species individually, reports Farmers Weekly Interactive.
According to the manufacturer, the ability to treat both livestock types simultaneously will reduce the likelihood of re-infection on dual-species sites.
Moreover, the meat-withhold period in sheep has been cut down to 35 days, a reduction of 21 days when compared to the previous Fasinex 5 Percent treatment.
Simon Harris, Novartis Animal Health's Fasinex UK brand manager, said: "Additionally, the double-strength formulation for sheep compared to Fasinex 5 Percent means only half as much costly packaging needs disposing."
The Fasinex range is also intended for use among goats and is well-tolerated by animals of any age and breed, including pregnant specimens and those suffering poor health.
