GE Healthcare completes Clarient tender offer
GE Healthcare has announced the completion of its tender offer for molecular diagnostics specialist Clarient.
The medical technology manufacturer is conducting the transaction via its subsidiary Crane Merger Sub Inc and will be taking control of all outstanding shares of common and preferred stock of Clarient.
GE Healthcare identifies Clarient as one of the leaders in the expanding molecular diagnostics industry, with the company offering a range of diagnostic tests that can be used in the analysis of cancer.
It expects the combination of the firms' expertise will help to accelerate the development of new tools for use in the field of oncology research.
John Dineen, president and chief executive officer of GE Healthcare, said: "We believe that combining the skills of the two companies will allow us to help pathologists and oncologists make more confident clinical decisions."
This comes after the company announced last month that it has agreed a deal to purchase the medical solutions business unit of technology company Orbotech.
