Cook Medical appoints vice-president of global logistics and purchasing

Cook Medical has announced that Rusty Burns has been promoted to the role of vice-president of global logistics and purchasing.

Mr Burns joins the company's executive management team after a 31-year career that has seen him rise through key roles with responsibility over purchasing, logistics, distribution and inventory.

In his new position, he will be in charge of warehousing, distribution and materials management services for Cook Medical, thereby helping to ensure that clients are supplied with products in a timely manner.

Kem Hawkins, president of Cook Group, praised the newly-appointed executive for his "exceptional vision".

"For three decades, Rusty Burns has shown outstanding leadership and guidance in helping direct the global expansion and modernisation of Cook's warehousing, shipping and materials management functions," he added.

Last month, Cook Medical appointed Rob Dorocke as its new vice-president of global e-communications in order to augment its efforts to provide patients and physicians with information via online and digital media.
