Covidien launches Infinity MCable-Nellcor OxiMax system in Europe

Covidien has announced the European launch of its new patient monitoring offering, the Infinity MCable with Nellcor OxiMax technology.

The new device is designed as an integrated component of manufacturer Drager's Infinity Acute Care System, a fully networked health monitoring solution that incorporates patient assessment, therapy and IT functions.

Covidien's new product adds specialty pulse oximetry sensors and alarm management technology to the system, making it easier to monitor the oxygen desaturation status of a wide variety of patients.

According to the manufacturer, its latest offering will allow clinicians to make more informed decisions based on real-time data.

Scott Kelley, vice-president for medical affairs and respiratory and monitoring solutions at Covidien, said: "Covidien is focused on identifying innovative approaches to increasing patient safety, while simultaneously helping clinicians and hospitals enhance efficacy and efficiency."

Last month, Covidien launched three new platform options to expand the functionality of its Puritan Bennett 840 ventilator system.
