Beiersdorf reports sales growth in 2010

12th January 2011

Beiersdorf has seen a year-on-year increase in sales during the 2010 fiscal year, according to preliminary results.

The health and personal care firm generated an estimated 6.2 billion euros (5.2 billion pounds) in global sales over the 12 months, representing a 7.7 percent increase in nominal terms and a 3.1 percent rise on a like-for-like basis.

Its consumer division saw a 1.6 percent sales upturn, with its UK operations highlighted as performing "very well", while its tesa business segment experienced growth of 13.2 percent.

Thomas-B Quaas, chairman of the executive board of Beiersdorf, said the firm is now looking to stimulate further growth in its consumer unit by implementing a programme of investments and restructuring initiatives.

These plans were outlined last month and include a new focus on skin and body care offerings, as well as a review of its decorative cosmetics operations.

Mr Quaas said: "Although the effects of these measures will impact our results in the transitional phase, they will systematically restore our previous momentum."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800338041-ADNFCR
