Covidien launches EverFlex Plus stent system in Europe

Covidien has announced the launch of its next-generation EverFlex Plus Self-Expanding Peripheral Stent System in Europe.

The new medical device is designed for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease and is designed to be the most durable addition to the EverFlex range, which made its debut in 2006.

Its radial strength and flexibility helps to minimise the risk of fracture when elongated, thereby advancing nitinol self-expanding stent technology and improving clinical outcomes.

According to the manufacturer, the launch of the EverFlex Plus enhances Covidien's position in the superficial femoral artery and proximal popliteal lesion treatment market.

Joe Woody, president of vascular therapies at Covidien, said: "The next generation EverFlex Plus system further demonstrates our commitment to the advancement of stent technology and our goal to lead the industry in identifying and treating vascular diseases with breakthrough technologies."

This comes after the firm launched the Infinity MCable with Nellcor OxiMax technology, a new patient monitoring device, earlier this month.
