Virbac launches corneal ulcer treatment for cats and dogs
Virbac Animal Health has announced the launch of a new corneal ulcer treatment for domestic canines and felines.
The new Remend Corneal Repair Drops utilise the natural wound healing component hyaluronan to support the animal's own organic repair processes, by creating an environment conducive to cell migration and growth.
Virbac states that the hyaluronan used in the product is specifically formulated for wound treatment and has been converted into a cross-linked gel for maximum stability.
This will allow the treatment to provide animals with relief from a painful and potentially distressing medical condition.
Heidi Lobprise, senior technical manager at Virbac Animal Health, said: "Remend Corneal Repair Drops were proven to heal corneal ulcers within 48 hours in a rabbit study and have been safely and effectively used in cats and dogs in clinical practice."
Earlier this month, the company launched a campaign to raise awareness of the potential link between bad breath among pets and periodontal disease.
