Johnson and Johnson highlights success of online Acuminder tool
Johnson and Johnson has published a study that highlights the success of its online Acuminder tool in changing contact lens usage habits.
The free service, which was launched in 2007, provides users with email and text message reminders when they need to change their contact lenses or schedule eye exams, with nearly 40,000 consumers having registered for the site thus far.
According to a poll of around 700 users, 95 percent have reported finding the tool useful, while 66 percent have noticed they are now more diligent about replacing their lenses.
Optometrist Michael Slusky said this improved observance protects contact lens wearers from the risk of discomfort or infection.
He added: "Adherence to prescribed replacement schedules and recommended wearing schedules … are essential to good eye health, which is why a reminder service such as Acuminder is so valuable."
This week, Johnson and Johnson's consumer division will be presenting new research data on its skincare innovation Cytomimic Technology at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.
