Merck Serono launches online resource for chemotherapy patients
Merck Serono has launched a new website designed to offer support to the caregivers and relatives of chemotherapy patients.
In association with the patient group Women Against Lung Cancer in Europe, the company has introduced lifebeyondchemotherapy.com, an online resource offering advice and clinical information related to cancer.
As well as information on all aspects of the treatment process from diagnosis onwards, the site is designed to offer emotional support to the "people behind the patients" and has been developed following consultation with various bodies.
Dr Wolfgang Wein, executive vice-president for oncology at Merck Serono, said the page has been launched in response to the demand for guidance among patients to support their decision-making.
"The internet is often the first point of access for these patients; however, its rapid expansion has given rise to an increasing level of misleading and inaccurate information," he explained.
Last month, Merck Serono announced a new collaboration with the Lead Discovery Center, which will focus on research into new cancer treatments.
