Heraeus to launch Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel

Heraeus has announced the imminent launch of a new product designed to combat the problem of dentinal hypersensitivity.

Gluma Desensitizer PowerGel will be released by the manufacturer in March 2011 and helps to eliminate sensitivity caused by gum erosion, which in turn reduces the pain experienced by certain patients when undergoing professional cleaning.

The product is being launched to help combat the problem of patients avoiding dental check-ups and treatments due to apprehension about the procedures involved.

Christopher Holden, president of Heraeus Kulzer, noted that dental check-ups are an important priority due to the fact that early warning signs of many diseases can manifest themselves in the mouth.

"Dentists' significant training and education enables them to recognise conditions that merit referring patients for care by dental specialists or physicians," he explained.

Earlier this month, the company published data from a study showing that its Venus White Pro oral care offering can provide teeth with up to 8.4 shades of whitening without causing any sensitivity issues.
