AstraZeneca opens new global headquarters in Paddington
AstraZeneca has relocated its global headquarters from London's Mayfair to a new, larger site in nearby Paddington.
The site was officially opened by London mayor Boris Johnson and is set to employ 350 workers in a three-storey building located on Two Kingdom Street.
A total of 90 staff members at the facility will come from the company's global marketing and sales divisions, with many set to relocate from its US and Brussels offices.
The new headquarters will also allow AstraZeneca to forge closer links with Cancer Research UK and the Medical Research Council, as well as with leading universities in the capital.
David Brennan, AstraZeneca's chief executive officer, said: "We are really delighted that the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, was able to celebrate with staff as we marked the opening of our new global headquarters."
Last month, AstraZeneca and Pfizer announced plans to support Cancer Research UK on a project designed to increase the availability of personalised cancer treatments in Britain.
