AstraZeneca and Galderma to collaborate on dermatology research

8th March 2011

AstraZeneca is to work alongside Galderma to develop a range of new treatments for various dermatological conditions.

The new research and development collaboration will see Galderma access several compounds from AstraZeneca's pipeline that will be developed in a range of indications during a five-year partnership.

A number of agents from areas including oncology and inflammation have already been identified as offering potential benefits to sufferers of conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and acne.

Translational science and preclinical testing programmes will now be conducted to assess which of these compounds demonstrate the most potential promise.

Clive Morris, head of AstraZeneca's new opportunities innovative medicines unit, said: "Partnering with Galderma, a world-leader in dermatology, is the most efficient and effective way to unlock the potential of our compounds in this rapidly evolving disease area."

Last month, AstraZeneca announced that it and Pfizer will be supporting a new Cancer Research UK project that will help to introduce more biomarker-based cancer treatments to the NHS.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800448240-ADNFCR
