Siemens launches Dimension EXL 200 chemistry analyser

Siemens has announced the launch of a new integrated chemistry analyser that has been specifically designed for low-volume clinical laboratories.

The Dimension EXL 200 system is capable of running a wide range of different test types for applications such as therapeutic drug monitoring, fertility testing, protein analysis and detecting illegal substances.

It incorporates LOCI advanced chemiluminescence technology for improved speed and sensitivity, while also featuring a sample transfer module, sample clot check and paediatric testing capabilities.

Additionally, Siemens will make the device connectable to the VersaCell system in future to allow a wider array of tests to be conducted on the same workcell.

Dave Hickey, chief executive officer for the chemistry/immunoassay, automation and diagnostics IT business unit at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, said: "It's exciting to offer our low-volume customers the same advanced technology on an integrated platform, historically available only to higher-volume laboratories."

This comes after the company launched an advanced version of the DCA Vantage Analyzer, its point-of-care immunoassay analyser for diabetes management, earlier in the month.
