Baxter highlights success of 2010 charitable schemes
Baxter has highlighted the positive impact of the various charitable initiatives it undertook during the last year.
In tandem with its philanthropic arm the Baxter International Foundation, the healthcare company provided nearly $80 million (49.76 million pounds) to good causes in 2010.
Of this total, $48.1 million was made up of product donations to 84 different nations, including the provision of around 250,000 intravenous solutions and sets following the major earthquake in Haiti.
In addition, $27.2 million was contributed to improve the living conditions of those in poorer nations, while $4.1 million was provided by the Baxter International Foundation in grants to not-for-profit schemes.
Baxter also noted that more than 163,000 hours were given over by its staff in 2010 to conduct volunteer work to help various communities.
According to the firm's most recent fiscal report, Baxter generated $12.8 billion in sales last year, up by two percent compared to 2009.
