ALK Abello elects new chairman of the board

ALK Abello has elected Thorleif Krarup as the new chairman of its board of directors following its annual general meeting last week.

Mr Krarup has agreed to take on the role at the healthcare company until the 2012 annual general meeting, while Lars Holmqvist becomes its vice-chairman.

He takes over from Jorgen Worning, who stepped down from the post after reaching the maximum age for ALK board members, while Steen Riisgaard will stand for the position next year.

Mr Krarup expressed confidence in the abilities of Mr Riisgaard, while also predicting growth for ALK Abello over the next 12 months.

"The new board of directors has strong competences and I am looking forward to leading the work of realising ALK's global strategy in the coming year," he said.

In February 2011, the firm predicted that its annual revenue for the year will reach at least three billion Danish kroner (354.24 million pounds), driven by a five percent rise in allergy treatment sales.
