Simplyhealth welcomes slowdown of government NHS reforms
Simplyhealth has responded positively to news that the progress of the government's controversial NHS reform bill through parliament has been halted.
The dental plans provider has stated that the "pause for reflection" offered by the delay to the Health and Social Care Bill will help to ensure that any changes made by the law are beneficial to UK care quality.
Jamie Wilson, sales and marketing director at Simplyhealth, said the company is in favour of the principles of choice underpinning the bill, suggesting they are consistent with its own provision of private medical insurance services to UK consumers.
However, he suggested that the government has not yet done enough to convince the public or healthcare sector of the benefits of the measures, a process that the current pause will help to facilitate.
"It can only be a success if people within the service and those who use it understand and support the reforms," Mr Wilson explained.
In February 2011, Simplyhealth was named the best health insurance provider of the year at the Consumer Moneyfacts Awards.
