Leica Microsystems and Definiens announce marketing alliance

Leica Microsystems is entering into a co-marketing partnership with health image intelligence company Definiens.

The collaboration will pertain to a range of Leica microscopy hardware and Definiens XD software and will see the firms cooperatively market their complementary products, as well as hosting joint workshops and educational events.

Efforts will focus on the benefits that drug discovery researchers can yield by utilising Leica's confocal data acquisition technology alongside the advanced analysis capabilities of Definiens' software.

It is hoped that the move will increase awareness of each company's product offering among the existing userbase of the other.

Dr Stefan Traeger, managing director of the life science division of Leica Microsystems, said: "We look forward to the opportunity to make highly developed and future-proof high content screening solutions widely available for academic research as well."

Earlier this month, Leica Microsystems launched the fully automated Leica HER2 FISH System for the Leica BOND advanced staining technology, which is designed for use in cancer diagnostics.
