Eppendorf appoints new chief executive officer
Eppendorf has announced that Dr Dirk Ehlers has assumed the role of chief executive officer (CEO) of the company as of the beginning of this month.
Dr Ehlers has succeeded former CEO Klaus Fink after the latter vacated the role following a successful 22-year spell.
Mr Fink will continue his association with the science company in a new position, having been appointed as the head of its supervisory board.
This succession came as part of a number of changes to the firm's executive leadership, with Professor Rolf Schmid also leaving the supervisory board this month.
Eppendorf stated that this will not affect his responsibilities as spokesperson for its scientific advisory committee.
Last month, the manufacturer announced that its Xplorer Electronic Pipette has been awarded the best new general lab product of 2010 prize at the 2011 Scientists' Choice Awards.
This accolade was voted on by more than 35,000 members of the online resource SelectScience.net.
