Cook Medical study shows benefits of multiband mucosectomy
Cook Medical has published data from a clinical trial which demonstrates the benefits of multiband mucosectomy (MBM) in treating oesophageal lesions.
A study has been conducted at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam over five years, which examined the safety and efficacy of MBM techniques as a means of addressing lesions associated with Barrett's oesophagus.
Using Cook's Duette MBM kit, the resection procedure for removing the lesions was shown to be far more efficient and straightforward than the most widely used alternative method.
This allowed the targeted tissue to be removed effectively with no perforations in more than 1,000 resections, with only a three percent incidence of bleeding during the resection.
Barry Slowey, global business unit leader for Cook Medical's endoscopy division, said: "We are pleased that such an important milestone for MBM resections has been accomplished. The data really speaks for itself."
Last week, the company launched a new Liberator locking stylet designed to facilitate the process of lead extraction.
