PerkinElmer announces takeover of Labtronics
PerkinElmer has announced that it will be acquiring Labtronics, a developer of procedures-based electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) solutions for multiple sectors.
The newly-purchased company was founded in 1986 and is responsible for product offerings such as the Nexxis ELN quality control system, the Nexxis iLAB laboratory automation platform and the LimsLink lab integration software.
By buying Labtronics, PerkinElmer will be able to expand its presence in the ELN and data integration software sectors, allowing it to better cater for labs using strict routine procedures.
Dusty Tenney, president for analytical sciences and laboratory services at PerkinElmer, said: "The acquisition presents strong synergies with our OneSource Laboratory Services portfolio, providing enterprise-level solutions that foster long-term partnerships with customers."
This news follows on from PerkinElmer's buyouts of informatics businesses CambridgeSoft and ArtusLabs in March 2011.
It also announced a deal to acquire Geospiza earlier this month, a creator of cloud-based genetic analysis and laboratory workflow management software.
