Welch Allyn launches Health o meter Professional Scales in Europe

Welch Allyn has announced the European launch of the Health o meter Professional Scales, which it is promoting in partnership with Pelstar.

The scales can interface with computers and other medical devices using USB or serial port connections, allowing patient data to be sent directly to electronic medical records, hospital information systems and vital sign devices.

It allows physicians to avoid making manual errors in taking these recordings, while also simplifying processes such as body mass index calculations.

The device is being co-promoted by Welch Allyn alongside its original developer Pelstar as part of a strategic partnership agreed last year.

Jon Soderberg, vice-president of international business development at Welch Allyn, said: "Health o meter Professional Scales are a perfect complement to our already robust line of physical assessment products that help providers make accurate diagnoses and spend more time with their patients."

Last month, the company demonstrated new products such as the Connex Vital Signs Monitor 6000 Series and the Connex ProBP 3400 Digital Blood Pressure Device to attendees of the 2011 World of Health IT Congress in Budapest.
