GlaxoSmithKline and Theravance report positive Revolair data
GlaxoSmithKline and partner Theravance have reported positive data from two phase III clinical trials of their drug Revolair.
The pivotal six-month trials were designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the drug as a treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) compared to placebo.
Data from both studies demonstrated the statistically significant benefits provided by Revolair, thereby supporting its continued clinical development among this patient population.
The results of these studies will now be added to the growing body of clinical evidence supporting the effectiveness of the drug, which will be included in regulatory submissions worldwide.
Darrell Baker, senior vice-president and respiratory portfolio optimisation leader at GlaxoSmithKline said: "Successful completion of these two studies is an important milestone in the development of Relovair for COPD."
Earlier this week, GlaxoSmithKline announced the commencement of a new study of its groundbreaking new malaria vaccine, which aims to isolate ways of maximising its effectiveness.
