Welch Allyn to pursue new strategy for Blue Highway subsidiary
Welch Allyn has announced that it will be transferring control of its subsidiary Blue Highway to Syracuse University.
The organisation was originally created in 2008 as a technology incubator by the two partners and has achieved significant success in its efforts to research new healthcare technologies and concepts.
It will now transfer its operations and resources to a new research and development company affiliated with the educational establishment, with the Blue Highway name and all assets set to be included in this transition.
Julie Shimer, president and chief executive officer of Welch Allyn, said this will allow Blue Highway to expand its capabilities and innovation goals into new areas.
"The Blue Highway operation is ready to accelerate innovation across the sciences, engineering, technology and beyond," she explained.
Earlier this month, the company announced that Hisham Hout has been selected as its new senior vice-president for Europe and the Middle East.
