CareFusion agrees BlisPack distribution deal with Grifols

CareFusion is to become a distributor of the automated blister pack cutting system BlisPack on behalf of Grifols in several key territories.

The company has signed a five-year exclusive agreement to become the designated reseller for the groundbreaking robotic system to hospital pharmacies in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

This device facilitates and accelerates the otherwise time-consuming process of identifying, cutting and overwrapping unit doses from blisters, while also helping to eliminate dispensing errors.

By agreeing this deal, CareFusion will also be able to extend its Pyxis dispensing technologies experience and expertise in medication management to new markets.

Prasanna Parthasarathy, vice-president for global market development for Pyxis Dispensing Technologies at CareFusion, said: "This is in line with our goal to help prevent medication errors, decrease costs while improving nursing and pharmacy efficiency."

Earlier this year, the company expanded its Pyxis range with the launch of the Pyxis EcoStation system, a new pharmaceutical waste management solution.
