Leica Microsystems launches SCN400 F digital slide scanner
Leica Microsystems has announced the launch of the new SCN400 F slide scanner for use in digital pathology applications.
The device combines brightfield slide scanning and multichannel fluorescence imaging capabilities in a single platform, producing high-quality images that can be viewed online via the SlidePath Digital Image Hub web viewer.
It is the latest addition to the manufacturer's Total Digital Pathology portfolio and contains various interoperable components, allowing it to be utilised flexibly in accordance with their needs.
Dr Donal O'Shea, head of digital pathology at Leica Microsystems, said the SCN400 F is being launched in response to the growing adoption of immunofluorescent staining in oncology and neuroscience research.
"We see the SCN400 F as a valuable tool for core laboratories, bringing increased efficiency and quality to research practices," he said.
Last week, the company also launched a new SlidePath Gateway application for iOS devices, giving digital pathology researchers a new way to view images.
