BD appoints scientific affairs head for diagnostics unit
BD has announced that Dr Patrick Murray has been appointed as its worldwide director of scientific affairs for the diagnostic systems unit.
Dr Murray will be tasked with defining product requirements and evaluating new technologies, as well as engaging with external bodies to improve BD's innovation processes.
This will leverage his existing expertise in clinical practice and infectious disease diagnostics, with the new director having previously served as microbiology service chief and senior scientist at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center.
He has also acted in professorial roles at a number of leading US universities.
Tom Polen, president of diagnostic systems at BD, said: "His clinical perspective will be a great addition to BD as we continue to pursue new breakthrough diagnostic solutions."
