Mast launches AmpC Detection Set for resistance detection
Mast has announced the launch of a new product designed to make it easier for researchers to detect resistance mechanisms in infectious organisms.
The new AmpC Detection Set is capable of identifying both plasmid and intrinsic chromosomally-encoded AmpC enzymes, catering for inducible, derepressed and hyperproduced strains.
A comprehensive, cost-effective and simple-to-use product, it can accurately confirm the presence of AmpC producers, even taking into account the growing complexity of beta-lactamase enzymes.
Other attributes of the set include its convenient cartridge-based three-disc system, streamlined workflow and interoperability with the Mast AmpC and ESBL Detection Set.
The manufacturer said: "With limited prospects for new antibiotic development to target resistant Gram-negative infections, there is now more pressure than ever to confirm resistance mechanisms to deliver effective antibiotic management policies."
Last month, Mast highlighted the benefits of products such as its Seeplex Diarrhoea ACE Detection kit in combating the current outbreak of E. coli infections in Europe.
