Takeda to launch Prostap DCS in UK
Takeda has announced the imminent launch of the new multipurpose Prostap DCS treatment in the UK.
The product is a leuprorelin acetate dual-chamber pre-filled syringe indicated for the treatment for prostate cancer in men and endometriosis and uterine fibroids in women.
It is designed to replace the current vial and syringe-based indication of Prostap and will be the only treatment of its kind to be delivered via dual-chamber pre-filled syringe, making it easier and more efficient to administer.
Prostap DCS will be made available at the end of October 2011 and will be supplied to the NHS at no additional cost.
Raj Persad, consultant urologist at Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead Hospital, said: "An accurate and user-friendly delivery system can only be a positive step forward, particularly as administration is more efficient and therefore saves time."
Last month, the company commenced a new phase III clinical study of TAK-816, a developmental vaccine for Haemophilus Influenzae type B.
