BioMerieux hails ‘tangible progress’ in first half of 2011
BioMerieux has expressed satisfaction with the level of business growth it has experienced in the first half of 2011.
The life science company generated 673 million euros (593.2 million pounds) in sales in the first six months of the year, up by 4.3 per cent year on year, with its "dynamic" performance in Asia and the Americas noted as the key driver.
Among the territories in which double-digit growth was achieved was the UK, while other highlights of the year to date include its acquisitions of AES Laboratoire and Argene and the launch of ten new products.
Jean-Luc Belingard, chairman and chief executive officer of BioMerieux, said the company has confirmed its sales outlook for the year based on this performance.
"In a still challenging environment, BioMerieux's teams made tangible progress throughout the first half of the year, resulting in faster sales growth during the second quarter," he noted.
Last month, the firm announced the launch of Vidas Up SPT, a new salmonella detection method.
