Phadia introduces new food allergy testing solution
Phadia has introduced a new molecular allergy testing system at the 2011 American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) annual meeting.
The ImmunoCAP Molecular Allergy system is capable of providing clinicians with molecular-level information for use in the diagnosis and management of food allergies.
Phadia states that this can offer heightened awareness of the impact, prevalence, cost and severity of allergies, with laboratories playing a key role in providing accurate and reliable data using the device.
Demonstrations of its clinical utility are being provided at the AACC event, while the company is also showcasing its new automated high-throughput Phadia 2500 and Phadia 5000 instrument platforms.
Dennis Flannelly, head of marketing and strategy for Phadia in the US, said: "We look forward to introducing this new cutting-edge technology to AACC attendees."
In May 2011, it was announced that Phadia is to be purchased by Thermo Fisher Scientific, a deal which is set to close during the fourth quarter of 2011.
