Bayer Consumer Care reports gains in analgesic products
Bayer Consumer Care has reported "gratifying" gains of two of its analgesic products in the three months to June 30th 2011.
The company's non-prescriptions medicine business saw shipments of Aleve/naproxen and Aspirin grow by 11.6 percent and 7.4 percent respectively, helping the Consumer Health segment climb by 4.1 percent to 1.5 billion euros (1.3 billion pounds).
An increase was also announced for the Bepanthen/Bepanthol line of skincare products, which rose by 7.1 percent, while the Medical Care Division came in level with the prior year, despite a decline in the Diabetes Care business in the US.
The Consumer Health arm continues to anticipate sales growth above the market rate.
Dr Marijn Dekkers, chief executive officer of Bayer, said: "We confirm the full-year sales and earnings forecast that we raised in April."
In May, Bayer announced the launch of a new Diabetes Care Group in the Newbury area aimed at anyone who has diabetes and tests their blood glucose levels.
