Actavis launches Letrozole tablets on first day of patent expiry

4th August 2011

Actavis has announced the launch of another product – Letrozole tablets – on the first day of its patent expiry.

The film-coated tablets, which are available in 2.5 mg strength in packs of either 14 or 28, are the seventh pharmaceutical item released by the company so far this year on the day after its patent period ended.

This is the latest in a line of recent launches from Actavis, following hot on the heels of the UK release of ten new medicines, expanding its portfolio in the country to more than 500 products.

Seven line extensions, two off-patent medicines and one new product were among the releases.

These medicines could help Actavis to capitalise on the growing number of prescriptions given out in the UK.

According to statistics from the NHS Information Centre, there has been a 70 per cent increase in the number of prescribed products dispensed over the past ten years.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800689130-ADNFCR
