Thermo Fisher Scientific launches new sample storage freezer
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of a new ultra-low temperature (ULT) freezer designed specifically for sample storage.
The Thermo Scientific Forma 88000 Series ULT freezer is designed to offer maximum storage capacity for a relatively small footprint, while also being energy efficient and secure.
It features a unique touch-screen control panel including an event log, health monitoring system and controlled access options, allowing users to constantly monitor the integrity of the freezer compartment.
The Forma 88000 is being offered in five different size variants and can store up to 70,000 2mL tubes or 118,300 1mL Thermo Scientific Cryobank tubes.
Lisa Witte, vice-president and general manager for cold storage at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said: "Working very closely with a wide range of global customers to develop the Forma 88000, Thermo Fisher is able to provide a secure, nurturing environment to maintain sample integrity."
Last month, the company announced its financial report for the second quarter of 2011, during which it experienced a record-breaking revenue performance.
