Leica Microsystems and Visiopharm integrate digital pathology software

Leica Microsystems is allying with Visiopharm to provide an integrated digital pathology software offering.

Leica's SlidePath Digital Image Hub is being integrated with Visiopharm's Whole-Slide Informatics solutions, an arrangement that will allow those using image analysis and stereology in digital pathology to achieve a streamlined workflow.

Images can be saved to the Digital Image Hub server and then accessed via the Visiopharm software for analysis, with resulting data and associated slides also viewable through this method.

Digital Image Hub has been highlighted as a perfect companion for Visiopharm's offerings thanks to its accessibility through standard internet browsers.

Dr Kjell H Kjellevold, head of the pathology department at Leica client Stavanger University Hospital, said: "For us, the combination of these two systems is ideal."

This week also saw Leica Microsystems launching the ASP6025, a new tissue processor that offers laboratory workflow improvement benefits.
