Leica to sponsor forthcoming SH/EAHP conference

Leica Microsystems has announced that it will be sponsoring the forthcoming joint workshop of the Society for Hematopathology and the European Association for Haematopathology (SH/EAHP) taking place next month.

The life sciences company has been named as a platinum sponsor of the event, which takes place in Los Angeles between October 27th and 29th and will be focused on cutaneous lymphomas and their mimics.

In advance of the conference, attendees will be able to access cases for review, 120 of which will be compatible with Leica Microsystems' digital pathology educational software, SlidePath Digital SlideBox.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer's SlidePath Gateway application will be used by those present to view high resolution scans of samples using Apple iPad devices.

Dr Sophie Song, organising committee chair at the SH/EAHP Workshop 2011, said: "The image quality of Leica SCN400 scanned slides, coupled with the ease of use of Digital SlideBox, makes Leica's Total Digital Pathology system ideal for supporting our workshop."

This comes after the company announced last month that it will be enhancing its digital pathology image analysis offering via a software integration arrangement with Visiopharm.
