Biogen Idec expands licensing partnership with Aegis Analytical

Biogen Idec has announced the expansion of its technology licensing arrangement with Aegis Analytical.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Biogen Idec will be able to utilise Aegis Analytical's Discoverant Process Intelligence technology at its Hillerod manufacturing site in Denmark.

The pharmaceutical company already utilises Discoverant as its manufacturing data access platform for its facilities in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Research Triangle Park in North Carolina.

According to Ed Goodreau, Biogen Idec's vice-president for manufacturing, the data centralisation and analytical capabilities of the platform have become an essential part of its trending and reporting capabilities in the US.

"We will be installing Discoverant in our Denmark site to facilitate data sharing and trending across the globe," he explained.

Earlier this month, the company announced that it will be taking 100 percent control of a pair of European joint venture operations that are currently being operated in partnership with Dompe.
