Quintiles acquires Outcome Sciences

Quintiles has completed its acquisition of research specialist Outcome Sciences.

The firm hopes the acquisition will help boost market access, as well as make it an industry leader in the field of late phase research.

Outcome Sciences is a long-established player in the observational research sector and has been operating since 1998. It has managed more patient registries and post-approval studies than any other firm in the industry.

Its remit covers more than 40 therapeutic areas in 80 countries around the globe.

Quintiles president and chief operating officer John Ratliff said the acquisition underpins Quintiles' desire to deliver efficient and insightful late phase research.

"With this acquisition, no other biopharmaceutical services company can match Quintiles' level of late phase science and strategy, global reach and service specialisation," Mr Ratliff stated.

Quintiles officially opened its European headquarters in Reading earlier this month.

The move was commended by parliamentary under-secretary of state for health Lord Howe, who said the decision showed the UK is an attractive destination for global pharmaceutical firms.
