Radiometer AQT90 FLEX analyser installed at Surrey hospital

Radiometer has sold an AQT90 FLEX analyser to Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey.

The device will be operated in the hospital's accident and emergency department, where it will be used to rule out venous thromboembolism in at-risk patients.

Commenting on the Radiometer medical equipment, Lynda Petley, manager of the point of care testing team at the hospital's pathology department, said: "Following an extensive laboratory evaluation, the AQT90 FLEX analyser was identified as 'best of breed' for our requirements."

She added that the device satisfies both the analytical and ergonomic issues faced by the healthcare provider.

Another decision-making factor was that the AQT90 FLEX analyser uses similar software to that found on the Radiometer blood gas analysers, which are already in widespread use throughout the hospital.

Radiometer creates devices that can be used for transcutaneous monitoring and immunoassay testing for various health markers – including those for cardiac conditions.

The firm created the first commercially available blood gas analyser in 1954, 19 years after the company was founded.
