Zimmer unveils new inViZia anterior cervical plate system

Zimmer has unveiled its new inViZia anterior cervical plate system, which is designed for anterior screw fixation of the cervical spine.

The product was introduced at the 26th North American Spine Society Annual Meeting in Chicago, were delegates were told it can be used to facilitate cervical spinal fusions in patients with degenerative disc disease, trauma, tumours, deformity, pseudoarthrosis and failed previous fusions.

Steve Healy, president of Zimmer Spine, described it as "an advanced system designed to offer a streamlined procedure with simple instrumentation and increased visualisation".

According to Zimmer, the inViZia system boasts generous graft window and narrow waist to aid clinicians during implant placement.

It also features true self-drilling screws to eliminate the need for drilling and makes use of the firm's Secure-Twist locking mechanism.

Zimmer may discuss the new product during its forthcoming presentation at the 2011 Credit Suisse Annual Health Care Conference in Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday November 9th.
