Parexel agrees new collaboration with UCB

Parexel has entered into a new alliance with UCB that will see it providing support for the pharmaceutical company's clinical development services.

The organisation has been selected as one of two strategic partners by UCB, alongside PRA, with the arrangement applying to all of UCB's new clinical study programmes on a global basis.

Parexel will be called upon to help drive innovation and efficiency, as well as offering its expertise in regulatory affairs and commercialisation, in order to allow it to deliver new medicines to patients more effectively.

In particular, it is hoped that the agreement will allow UCB to expand its operations in Asia, a key growth market in the healthcare sector at present.

Josef von Rickenbach, chairman and chief executive officer at Parexel, said: "We look forward to working collaboratively with UCB to deliver customised, innovative solutions to achieve their goals."

This comes after Parexel announced last month that it is introducing a dedicated team for the provision of commercialisation services in the pharmaceutical sector.
